Been lazy on the blog obviously. I switched to heads up for quite a while there and did decent sustaining 7-8bb/100 across all levels. However, there is way too much dead time and overall it is a bit of a time sink. Bigger profit per table is ok but not when you can only get 1 game going at medium limits over a 2-3 hour time period.
I have also over the past few months been switching between 3-4 tables of high limits ($2000 - $5000) and 9-10 tables of medium limits (Nearly all $1000). I'm trying to get a database of 100,000 hands together to try and see my true win rate doing 9-10 tables of 6 max. I might post my results when I'm done. Currently done 15500 hands with Holdem Manager.
In other news, my friend (Bob Mitchell) and myself have been doing quite a lot of physical training. He used to be in a cycling club many years ago and he has suggested a very arduous task for us. Next summer we are going to try to complete the L'Étape du Tour which is basically a Tour De France stage open to amatuers cyclists. Last year the stage was 167KM long with long tough uphill sections. Hope we make it, I'll keep you updated on physical progress. I have never been very fit in my life, to accomplish this almost guarantees I will need to be super fit so lets hope we can keep up the training regime from now until summer.
Now for some funny stuff I found on youtube and elsewhere. Perhaps you have not seen one or two things here, if so then I supplied you with gold. Enjoy.
Hicks vs Heckler - Never seen this before. Gold.
Richard Pryor being interviewed high as a kite which I'm going to guess was filmed during the making of Stir Crazy.
Dave Chappelle - All three parts of the Charlie Murphy - "I'm Rick James Bitch" hilarity. For anyone who doesn't know who Rick James is, he was quite famous for a while in the 70's, mostly for his song Superfreak which was sampled(ripped off) by MC Hammer in his massive hit "U Can't Touch this".

Bill Hicks looks really upset there - do all genius have to borderline being mentally ill? and worse what if you just mentally ill but not even clever...
wow, gl for that. sounds like it'd be epic-ly hard.
Tiller, unfortunately 100k hands won't give you any indication at all of a true win rate and especially not when they are played at higher/more volatile levels.
I'm not saying such a sample is meaningless as it can certainly give strong indications but, tbh, you don't need indications as you already know 110% you are a proven winning player. If you want to establish more of a cast-iron win rate at a level then in the region of 500,000-1m hands is needed and even then with a 99.9% confidence interval you'd be surprised at the difference between the upper and lower bond!!
Hi tillerman,
I would like you to play these games, I found them absolutely amazing:
- portal (pc)
- nhl 09 (xbox 360)
best wishes
I did play play and complete Portal, I agree it is very good. I don't play sports games ever so I doubt I'll be checking out NHL :(
Hi Tillerman.
GL with getting in shape for that race. I will be hard, but its worth it. I think you will find that being in good shape helps you staying more focused on poker etc as well.
Also do you still play WoW? And/Or do you plan on playing when Wotlk comes out in november?
Cheers.
hi tillerman,
i would like to ask the question 'is it really possible to make a living playing online poker?' i am fairly new to the game, but am doing the neccessry research to improve my game. i stumble across a site called 'highstakes' where you can request high stakes poker online results. i was mighty shocked when i searched the texas holdem nl games on ladbrokes dated from the begining of the year to present date. i found that 50th position had only won just over $8,000!!! considering there are a few hundred/thousand? players on this site i was naturally shocked, even 10th position only showed just over $41,000.
i would be really interested in any thoughts you may have on this or am i just reading the results wrong??
many thanks....
hey tillerman
