Biggest Pot ever on High Stakes Poker (Nearly)
A lot of you have probably seen this already but I thought I would post it in case some of you missed this. My main reason for posting is the discussion that was made over the Sammy Farha vs Jamie Gold hand and whether or not it was a charitable act. This hand is super clear in comparison, what a let off!
The moment when Guy turns over his hand and the camera shot goes to Benyamine's face demonstrates a really honest reaction in poker =)

who is that laliberte guy? Hes got tons of cash. I saw this yesterday and yea I think they should move HSP buyin to the old one. Does these people have the bankroll to take a 600k dollar bad beat?
He is the founder of the Cirque du Soleil thus a Billionaire =)
HSP really loses its interest and its point if they chop and run several times.
Benyamine completely wussed it there. Guy was obviously not squeezing and Benyamine must know that if called he's probably drawing to the flush only so why shove in $600K on the flush draw into the only guy that can comfortably call and the back out when the hands are turned over?
lol at above.. HSP would also lose its interest if the players decided to no longer play there because the organisers didn't let them play how they like to play....
Guy bets straight-forward. he is too bad at poker to really bluff against strong players, and it is to his credit that at least he knows this.
letting benyamine off like that is fucking retarded though, when given the option to run it several times
hsp sucks, why don't they invite tillerman or durrr.
these stupid billionaires don't know how to play no limit, they are a bunch of losers.

100% in agreement. Biggest post ever? Not in the end. What a waste.
I think its funny saying wussed it, if i was going to lose my whole livelyhood with the turn of a card i might wuss it 2. HSP confuses me though the way most people play, I mean its as if they've never folded a flush draw in their life. I aint ever played against people at that level or anything, but I don't see at what point a re raise all in is a good play here, maybe against someone like farha or even gold but dont think this guy plays that wild to put a re raise in here in that spot with re raise behind without at least 2 pair. Let me know if u disagree here.
goblinhat
He made that all-in against brunson with just Top pair weak kicker, and he raised a lot the show (got good cards).
He also has watched all the episodes of the prior seasons and nows that farha bets with everything and Benjamin might make a move here.
He could make that raise with any top pair or even a lower flushdraw etc. At least from what benyamin has to suspect i think.
+ hes getting good odds for a push i think (putting about 550k more in to win that 240 if he folds and have a decent chance to win if he calls no matter what.
(Benyamine is raising farha pretty big, so he might not make this play with total air really, but does that billionäre know that?)

daft raise by david. Another 400k is like toilet paper to Guy - not the best guy to semi bluff!
don't think Guy was being that kind though - he admitted later that he was feeling bad vibes about the hand!
Actually I'm not that sure it is so clear cut.
I'm in two minds about it.
Later Laliberté says "I had a bad feeling". Not sure if he really meant it or it was to save face and not undermine the credibility of the whole HSP thing.
I think both of the hand was interesting with Benyamine ending up out of his depth and Laliberté thinking the odds weren't as good as he wanted.
Maybe he was being charitable or maybe he saw it as a blessed relief.
I think both players were happy with the result.
He clearly didn't understand how much he was giving away.
If someone told him he was giving away $150,000 I wonder if he would have done it.
I think he said that bad feeling stuff to make benyamine feel better.
I really wouldnt feel comfortable if i get a huge money gift.
If he thinks that liberti was dumb enough to give him that much though he has satisfied his poker instinct ^^.
The rich man didnt care at all about the money and just wanted to be nice.
My impression of this hand was that LiLiberte knew he was giving away substantial value here - sure he's not the greatest poker player in the world but he seems competent enough to be able to do a quick estimated EV calc - but more important to him than the $150,000 or so was the opportunity to come off as magnanimous on national TV.
exactly, it was charity and self promotion at the same time. a nice and respectful deed though and cudos to him (really!!!), but to be a nice guy on television must have been a major motivational factor.
what are the chances they are working as a team, or benyamine is staked by --or is borrowing from-- laliberte? So many gay antics going on in this season. The farha-gold thing was another bs play. Could that be a result of collusion or a shared bankroll as well?
i'd say 0 percent of what is on television is real.
Guy Laliberte is on the Forbes list...
I posted about that hand in the Farha Gold hand. This actually proves charity exists, but from Guys like Laliberte... From Farha NO WAY it was charity imho... ;)
LOL, Guy again shows hand with straight and flush straight draw to Farah in ep 16. It s a small pot but indeed it's like LOL
Just goes to show if you want to be a "nice guy" at the poker table you better have a billion dollar bankroll behind you...I think overall the game is playing too high to see much realistic poker being played - the previous seasons were much more interesting for me.
