Absolute Poker to be Audited

"The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has hired the auditing firm Gaming Associates to investigate Absolute Poker, according to reports here and here. The audit follows the mysterious disclosure of a file showing someone with an Absolute Poker IP address observed a game in which a player by the handle of Potripper had an uncanny knowledge of his opponents' hole cards."

Full article is at The Register.

This is good news.

As you've all surely followed, pocketfives.com had the info first: AP aknowledged cheating has been going on. So that's it, critical thinkers won: there's no way you can deny statistical evidence (btw statistical evidence is regularly used in court cases). I think it would be nice to have someone post an entry about why some people's minds refuse to admit that wrongdoings may be going on. There are nasty people on this planet and they'll do anything they can to cheat the system. How can people refuse to admit that cheating is going on in the face of undisputable evidence? This, to me, is a way more important topic than cheating in online Poker... It's not just about being bad at math or laking the brain cells allowing critical reasonning: it's about having, deeply engrained, a "people can't do no evil" bogus mindset. I think such people are very dangerous... Probably much much more than the ones perpetrating evil. So to all the brainless sheeps who denied that wrongdoing was going on, here's my two words for you: "f u" :)

Unfortunately the nature of the gambling business will attract lots of people who want "something for nothing".

It seems that some people are not as outraged about the cheating going on as they are about the cheaters being too greedy & stupid to walk away with an un-detectable ammount.

If a site I was playing on was compromised in this way I would withdraw all my money from there instantly, even if it didn't seem to directly affect the limits I play at.

Poker is a tough enough game as it is without having to worry about being ripped off as well - anyone that condones this or thinks it's cool better hope it never happens to them...criminal charges should be brought against anyone caught being involved with this.

i don't know if people think its cool or would do it themselves jazz more it just seems rediculous how stupid and obvious the perpetraitor made it. :)

Isn't it time all poker sites were independently audited with the powers that be able to swoop on any site at any time.

It seems to me this is arrogance at its very worst and criminal charges need to be brought and a lot of money paid back to customers.

One of the worrying aspects of this is that the Kawanake Gaming Commission has an ownership interest in Absolute and also claims to regulate it. Giving the way this scandal has unfolded the KGC has been comprimised and is clearly not a regulator that can be relied on. Given the damage this scandal has done to online poker, I would urge everyone to contact fulltilt and pokerstars and urge them to severe all contacts with KGC asap.

Now for something completely different. I saw you(Tillerman) playing a high heads up table at a cryptologic network here the other day. Do you play on sunpoker, parbet, interpoker or william hill? And how much. Greetings from an old wc3 fan who also turned poker player :-)
