Washout again!
WCOOP events seven and eight were complete washouts for me again. I am busy tonight so I am probably going to have to skip the $215+R NL Hold'em, $1 Million guaranteed.
Gulkines appeared at my $5000NL table last night wanting heads up again. I said I was going to bed in five minutes so I didn't want to play(true). He then started saying how I'm like all the rest and never want play heads up(half true, I need to be in the mood). This of course made me play... LOL!
The very first hand I decide to raise K
9
on the button to $6149 - all in. Gulkines calls my bet fast with A
3
creating a $10,000 pot.
The board comes 4
J
8
5
Q
giving him ace high which of course beats my king high. He drags in the $10,000 pot.
The second hand we play he raises all in on the button and I have an easy call in the SB for $5000 with 6
5
. He turns over J
7
.
The board comes A
A
8
5
5
letting me scoop the $10,000 pot.
We play a third hand where I pick up 9
6
on the button. I of course push all in for $10,000. He instantly calls off his stack with 5
3
. Another $10,000 pot.
The board comes T
9
J
J
2
giving me Jacks and Nines and another $10,000 scoop.
He stops after this hand at which point I went to bed.
Ok ok, before you all think I've lost my mind we agreed to do some coin flips before bed. I of course outplayed him very harshly =)
Even though the WCOOP has been going pretty shitty cash has been going very good. I worked out that to enter all the WCOOP events it would cost around $16,000. I'm probably going to have to skip a few so maybe it will only cost $14,000 or so. I also managed to enter several events for free with my FPP points.
I actually won the biggest pot of my life last week in cash. It was vs Pau060771 at £8000($16,000) buy-in playing heads up. I was already up £8000 vs him so had a £16,340 stack. He had worked back up to a £12,793 stack. I raised 6
6
on the button to £240, he then reraised to £800. I called.
The flop came A
9
6
giving me a set of sixes. He then leads into me for £1400. I reraise to £3040. He then reraises again to £6500. I push all in at this point and he calls for another £5573. This creates a £25,746($52,000) pot.
He turns over K
T
. Ugh. Why not just AK =)
The turn is the T
.
The river is the J
.
Woot, two blanks and I get to scoop in a nice pot.
I'm going to post soon an update to an article I posted over a year ago. It was titled The Illusion of Style. My own style has changed uttery and absolutely since I made this post and although I still stand by most of what I said in it I still want to update and make a few corrections to it. Poker has changed quite a bit since I wrote this article as has my own style so I have a much deeper overall understanding than this time last year.

Looking forward to the update regarding ilussion of style. I have always played close to 19/13/2, wich is kind of weak/tight for 6max. However, I have always won with those stats, and only recently I am getting more aggressive. I think your article was excellent, since you see a wide range of stats for different winning players.
Also, would be interesting to hear your opinion regarding some players who used to be big winners at PS, who now seem to struggle with their old playing style. Any comments would be appreciated.
Brgds,
the clêaner
that old post rocks, i still have it added in my favorites and i have only 30 with like 15 of them being important stuff like neteller/gmail/onlinebanking/favpornsite/etc
First coinflips, next Horse Betting followed by Roulette & Blackjack with a gradual name change to Iain Ungar...
Hi tillerman,
I was wondering if you could explain me how vpip work.
in this case what's vpip of igalsh?
------------------------------
Starting hand #908262521
------------------------------
NEW HAND
Butt Cookie posts the small blind $2.00
Loco 1 posts the big blind $4
theuniquedon calls $4.00
igalsh calls $4.00
Marclemar calls $4.00
JoeThor raises to $16.00
Butt Cookie folds
Loco 1 folds
theuniquedon folds
igalsh folds
marclemar calls $14
is it 50% or 0%?
thank you
playhard
The VP$IP of igalsh is 100% in your example: "Voluntary put money in pot preflop". You have given one hand and he voluntary put money in the pot preflop. So it's 100%. It doesn't matter that he folded later on for the calculation of the VP$IP.
"Percentage of time the player voluntarily put money into the pot" not including the blinds which is a forced bet.
So if someones VPIP is 27 then on average 27 out of 100 times they voluntarily put money into the pot be it with a raise or a call.
Wow, that just shows how much poker can change in a year. I can't believe you were playing 20/10 only a year ago! I'd bet any money you're more like 22-24 VP$IP and 18-22 PFR (i.e. slag).
For your article it would be useful if you could give an indication of how much you 3-bet preflop and what you view 3-bet strategy as. I see this as the big change in the last year - there is a LOT more 3-betting preflop.
