DVD Ripping

Season 3 of the World Poker Tour arrived on DVD today and it has the episode with TonyG in Paris on it. I can't help it but no matter how much how I really want to dislike his behavior I think it is really funny.

This behavior is similar to behavior in gaming and I guess that is why I don't really care too much about it. In gaming it was quite normal to completely trash talk and slam your opponent during and after games. =) I'll upload another clip tomorrow.

Tourney Results

Congrats to Ackbleh(IN-Bob) who took 1st place earning himself $575. I'm sure it feels even better than his 2nd place in the Pokerstars guaranteed $1,000,000 tournament last week. Remember, it is not the money that matters, it is the prestige, honour and bragging rights that truly count!

A small shout out to Mbombach(Maynard) who got 2nd and $345, as well as B2Bullets(Ben Bard) who managed 3rd place for $230.

The bounties were won by Ackbleh who eliminated B2Bullets, CallMeKrazy who eliminated Mafews(hehe!) and Kaj who eliminated myself. They all received $100 extra into their Pokerstars accounts.

With this tournament we can see that Mafews was the 3rd best in Scotland followed by myself and the current best in Scotland - Ben Bard. Hoho =)!

In other tournament news I managed 4th place in the Ultimatebet, $500+30 tournament netting just over $9000. Bit of a shame as I lost all my chips as chipleader with QQ all in vs A7. An ace hit on the river and it was downhill from there. Just need to win the crucial big hands at the right time.

Sunday Private Tournament and Stuff

UPDATE AGAIN: $100 Bounty on Mafews, $100 Bounty on TillerMaN, and $100 B2Bullets (Top Value tonight) with over 20 entries! $300 in Bounties tonight!

The private tournament will be on Sunday at 2:30PM EST (7:30PM GMT), the buy in will again be $50 but hopefully we will get 20 or more people this time so someone can claim the $50 bounty on my head! There was lots of trash talk last time so I hope we can keep it up again in this one =). The password is again :- tillerman

Some final stuff about Dublin:-

Congratulations to Jonathon Wong aka Dj3way who managed to take down 4th place in the main event in Dublin. He got 70,000 Euros but was really unlucky to have gone out as he managed to get his chips all in pre flop with AT vs the chip leaders A9. A nine hit on the river and Jonathon was eliminated. Overall Results.

Tony Chessa from Glasgow got 1st place in the 150 Euro rebuy event netting just over 21,000 euro's in a 2 way chop. Chris Welsh from Edinburgh got 3rd place and Rory Matthews managed 4th. I got 12th in this event. 300 entries, so not a bad result for Scotland in it =).Overall Results.

Here are the results for the tournament I got 2nd place money in.

Two new WPT torrents were released whilst I was away so here they are for anyone who has not yet seen them :-

Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship featuring Tony Grand, Minh Ly, Dan Harrington, Don Zewin, Gavin Smith and Jan Sorensen.

Foxwood's World Poker Finals featuring Nicholas Schulman(TheTakeover), Tony Licastro, Bill Gazes, Allen Cunningham, Lyle Berman and Lenny Cortellino.

Also the first episode of the NBC National Heads Up Poker Championships has been uploaded.

And finally...

A typical conversation between high stakes internet pros Kirderf and myself on MSN. And to think you probably thought we discussed high level strategy...

Touney Report

Main event was a wash out unfortunately, I only lasted around 3 hours and was out when I went all in with top pair vs 2nd pair. He spiked 2 pair on the turn :( I went to play cash game later and won around 3500 Euros. Neary all of it coming from a Royal Flush with JDTD in the hole vs Stuart Nash's AK =)!

The 300 Euro event was yesterday with over 300 runners. I managed to get to the final table of this which made up for the disappointment of the main event. I did a semi dodgy deal with 7 players left netting 11,000 Euros which was the 2nd highest payout for the deal and was higher than 3rd place money. However, the shortest stacks got too good of a deal and I would have done it differently in retrospect if I'd had more time to think it through. The chip leader with double my chip stack was an Irish player I knew pretty well from Pokerstars called Jayla but unfortunately I did not know this at the final table and only found out afterwards. We both agreed if we had known we would have played it out for longer and not done the deal. Either way, everyone went away happy especially the short stacks =)

The 150 Euro with rebuys is tonight and I will be letting rip during the rebuy period I think. Hopefully I can get a decent sized stack for once early on.

(UPDATE - We are flying back today, I got far in the 150 Euro event, getting knocked out in 12th spot with an ok chip stack. Someone raised in late position to 12,000 and I reraised all in after lots of thinking from the small blind with AA. He finally called and turned over KJo. The flop came QT9 and that was that. Really brutal way to go out after seeing AA only once over the 4 days. When I went to bed, Tony Chessa, Rory Matthews and Christopher Welsh were at the final table with only seven left. A good result for Scotland I'm sure in the end.)

This is us with two tables to go, I am on the far left of the table in the black and white stripy shirt.

Deep in thought! Jayla is in the the grey hoody opposite me.

More thinking!

Mafews in the white shirt observing the final table trying to pick as many final table tips as he can =)

Just arrived

This is Steve Hamilton at Prestwick airport waiting on our delayed flight to Dublin. I let him use my new Alienware laptop to play World of Warcraft whilst we waited.

Haha. We pushed aside the crappy computers and plugged the Alienware into their sockets =)

Look at Steve playing with my Hunter character. Noob style to the max.

Won't be playing today, we arrived at 5:40PM and the 400 Euro tournament started at 4PM. Sick. Main event is tomorrow though so all is well I guess!

Ireland etc.

I am going over to Dublin/Ireland today for the Irish Poker Open. I will be staying for 4 days and playing all the events there which consist of :-

Friday 14th - 400 Euro + 40 Euro with Rebuy.
Saturday 15th - 3000 Euro + 200 Euro Freezeout. (1 Million Euro Guaranteed)
Sunday 16th - 300 Euro + 30 Euro Freezeout. (Only if I'm knocked out of the main)
Monday 17th - 150 Euro + 15 Euro Rebuy. (Again, only if I'm knocked out)

Fly back on the Tuesday!

I will be able to test my new Alienware laptop which I bought especially for trips. My friend Steve will probably end up using it most of the time since he is not entering the main event.

The specs I got were :-
[1] Area-51® m5700

Processor: Intel® Pentium® M 780 2.26GHz 2MB L2 Cache 533MHz FSB
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Pro Edition UK with SP2 - English
Case: Alienware® m5700 17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD - Xeno Grey
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 PC-4200 533MHz - 2x512MB
Video Card: Alienware® m5700 NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Go with 256MB of DDR1 memory

The only criteria were size/weight/processor speed and best screen possible. This met those three criteria for the Centrino processor combos. It can do four poker tables with no overlap and six tables with some overlap lengthwise. It can also run Wow at maxed settings and 1920*1200 widescreen resolution very well. So all in all pleased with it and will probably return to Alienware in the future.

The final episode of High Stakes Poker has been released on torrent but don't worry as I hear they are just about to start filming a further 16 episodes any day now.

A congratulations to my good scottish friend B2Bullets on Ultimatebet who killed the 50-100 Pot Limit Omaha game there a couple of days ago. He netted $290,000 profit in just one day playing just two tables. Pretty sick but he is precisely that, sick! Not bad going for the second best player in Scotland? (Lol!)

I won't be running a tournament on Sunday because I will be in Ireland but I will start it again on the following Sunday. I listened to the comments and stuff but I will keep it at $50 buy in as I think this is the perfect balance point for "most" people. I might also start a leaderboard if we regularly get 20+ players turning up for it which I think we will on a Sunday.

Tourney Result

Saturday was a bad a time to run this tournament, nearly everyone said they were going out and couldn't play. Sucks, but we still got 15 players and had a fun time with lots of gamer trash talk =).

Ex Pro Gamer - Elky, took the trophy, congrats!

I'm going to run these on a Sunday at the same time I think, when people are able to play more easily.

We even had a WPT champ in the line-up - Pokerstarzan aka Roland De Wolfe winner of the Season 4 Paris WPT.

Talking of that, it has just been released on torrent as well as WPT Aruba. Here are the links :-

Grand Prix de Paris - Featuring Roland De Wolfe(InsideEdge), Juha Helppi(Raise!), Michel Zajdenberg, Tim Anders, Curt Kohlberg and Alan Goehring.

UltimateBet's Aruba Poker Classic - Featuring Freddy Deeb, Josh Schlein(SDouble), Johan Storakers, Devin Porter, Robert Border and Stacy Matuson.

Tournament Today!

See post below for details. Only 5 people entered so far, I leave it to the last minute to enter tournaments too in case I can't play but don't forget if you are like me!

This is going to be way too easy for me with the entries so far =). I don't want free money so don't forget to sign up and make it tougher =).

I should have probably ran it at the same time on Sunday. Next time.

Lots of Poker Torrents

High Stakes Poker Episode 10 - An appearance by Phil Hellmuth in this one!

High Stakes Poker Episode 11 - He is still going in this one too. He cracks me up good mostly every time I see him in one of these things.

High Stakes Poker Episode 12 - Not watched it yet, but it just came out today!

Season 4 of the World Poker Tour has also started to be uploaded in torrent form however they are misnamed and being released out of order. I don't know what is going on, I had to cross reference to the WPT site to get the right info :-

So far on Torrent :
Legends of Poker - The Bicycle Casino - Featuring Alex Kahaner, Kenna James, Jake Minter, Tim Phan, Todd Philips and Kevin O'Donnell.

The Mirage Poker Showdown - Featuring Gavin Smith, Ted Forrest, Chris Bell, Kido Pham, Eugene Todd and Mark Ellerbe.

Borgata Poker Open - Featuring Al Ardebili, Ricardo Festejo, Kathy Liebert, John D'Agostino, Bob Hwang, David Singer.

The Battle of Champions III - Featuring Tuan Le, Eli Elezra, Alex Brenes, Daniel Negreanu, Michael Gracz and John Stolzmann. Note : This is an invite tournament with a first prize of $25,000, so they clearly do it for the fame =)

Thats all there have been so far. I'll keep posting them as they appear.
