Stu Ungar from 1981
I got lazy about ripping this but finally did it after being reminded by some people. It is the last 5 minutes or so from the 1981 World Series of Poker. Stu Ungars second win. A large contrast I think with the 1997 footage some 16 years later.
The poker experiement is still going strong. I am at 26 Hours and 10 minutes played. I played pretty badly yesterday, semi tilting all day. I am getting nervous not looking at the cashier when I feel myself losing over the past couple of days =) I am determined to stick it out though.
Agent911 gave me a link in the comments to the E3 presentation video of Supreme Commander. Check it out, looks very impressive so far!

Concerned with the whole ... paraphrasing "we had to use rock paper scissors in the past, now we can simulate real battles"
I think that the fun gameplay is linked to the rock/paper/scissors battles. Simply blowing up your opponent sounds like it could get boring pretty quickly. This is one of the main reasons bliz RTSs are better than many of their competitors.
I was completely blown away by that shakey-cam trailer. It looks like a lot of attention has been paid to detail during the development of this game.
One of my few complaints regarding Starcraft was that it was very much a videogame, in that the player didn't feel much like he was making any kind of major tactical decisions that you might see in actual warfare. Supreme Commander seems to go in the opposite direction of that, sacrificing the easily accessible fast-paced "gamey" feel of Starcraft for the chance to put the player in the seat of a General.
From the trailer, Supreme Commander seems to handle large-scale combat very well, something Starcraft lacked in my opinion. Starcraft had 256x256 maps (quite small in comparison to the largest-sized map in Supreme Commander), none of which anybody ever played on because it screwed up the minimap. Aside from the fact that Starcraft's three races were balanced for 128x128 or less, and Zerg dominated anything much larger in scale.
I think I might actually prefer chesspiece-balancing to what Starcraft had going (play on an LT-esque map or suffer major balance issues).
I want you to know Agent911 that this gameplay trailer has me really, really excited for your game. :) My only worries are that it won't get publicity on par with the Blizzard marketing machine, or will require such massive system specs as to render the game unplayable for most people. I noticed in the trailer that in its current form it was running on several gigabytes of RAM and still had a bit of slowdown at one point -- most people have a fraction of that.
I understand that every gameplay presentation at E3 is run on a massive machine far greater than anything the average home user has, but I guess I just worry more in this case because it seems so detailed and so BIG.
I think Stu Ungar might actually look a LOT younger than that, only 1 year before ;)... if you see what i mean...
Woah is Prahlad Frieman (sp?) his son?? They look like they could be twins...
:| OMG. Supreme Commander is amazing man!!!!!!!!, i cant wait until the release date :@ there is not any alpha or beta game for this yet ????????????? BFFFFFFFFFFFF AMAZING
Just wondering if you had seen the june copy of WPT Magazine as you got a mention...... unfortunatly it is in the Bad Beat Hand History section on P101 as someone has posted a hand history on the web, where they beat your 4 aces with a royal flush. Still got your name in print!!!
If i ever play heads-up in WSOP main event final, im gonna be sure to do my trousers up.
