Monte Carlo Day 2/3

Well, I am out of the tournament, finishing in 90th or thereabouts. I built my stack up to 16k then back down to 5k then back to 17k etc. Couldn't string together two winning pots in a row which really makes you struggle.

Hands of note were not many, a few throughout the tournament :-

Luca Pagona raised my BB for the 2nd time in a row. I successfully defended it the first time and decide to do the same again. He is on the button. I have 97h. The flop comes A74, all clubs. I check to him and he bets around 1400. I check raise him to 3800 and after a long think he finally folds Ax rag with no club claiming he is reading me for AJ with the jack of clubs. I told him I'd tell him after the tournament what I had so here it is.

A hand that totally cripped me happeneed vs Ram Vaswani. Someone UTG raised it up to 2000 and I pushed all in on the button for 10k with AKo. Ram Vaswani in the BB called my all in instantly with an 8000 stack. The original raiser folded. Ram said, please show me AK, theres a good boy. Which I dutifully did. He had 33. The flop came K3x. Ugh, and I was cripped to a 2.2k stack when the average was at 25,000. Lol. Amazingly I managed to double up back to around 15k when I was finally eliminated by a Scandinavian who raised me on the button to 2200. I was in the BB with AQs which is far too good vs a button raise. I reraised to 6600 and he finally pushed all in. I called for my remaining 8000 chips and he turned over KK. Ugh. Flop was TQxxx and I went out of the tournament with no help :(

Mafews went out in around 50th to 60th struggling with a short stack all day also. The other Scottish player that was with us is called Tony Chessa and he managed his short stack to great effect surviving all day and finishing the day with around 58,000 in chips with only 30 players left. The cashing starts at around 26th I believe so he has a good chance of cashing even though he is below average. This is good for me I guess as we did a small 3% swop =) Go Tony.

When I was eliminated I signed up the 500 Euro Rebuy tournament. It started at 8pm and I did good in it. There was 180 runners and I am currently in the last 18 with the tournament restarting tomorrow at 2pm. Unforunately I lost half my stack towards the end so only have 24,000 in chips left when the average is around 46,000. At least I cashed and got my 1000 Euros back + 800 extra. 1st place is 58,000 Euros. Fingers crossed for tomorrow and doubling up.

As for the trip itself, I have met a lot of people I play with online and they all seems like real nice people in person such as Insideedge, Elky, Dpommo, Dubbleup, Matdamon... the list goes on and on......... I believe Bennyboi (Ben Grundy) is at around 150,000 in chips in the main event so has a real good chance of going all the way. Gl to him also. I also see John Smiley of Pokerstars with around the same size stack also although I haven't met him yet. So gl to him too.

When I was playing tonight they were announcing 100 Euro Sit n go's and 500 Euro Sit n go's. There are no cash games at all unfortunately. Then at one point they announced a $20,000 Sit n go. And the names called out were like Greg, Eric, Patrik etc etc lol. I observed it a little as they were discussing the structure. It was 2 prizes, $150,000 for 1st and $50,000 for 2nd. When I last looked there were only 6 players left with Pokergirl1 just having being eliminated. TheSalmon was still there shortstacked as was Carlos Mortensen, Greg Raymer, Patrik Antonius and a few players I didn't recognize. After that they all ended up in a corner playing Chinese Poker together, (95% Scandinavians). Sickness.
