"MK: Let’s finish up here by talking about online poker. You love playing online and I know you’ve had some big swings there, but, presumably, you’re a winner in the long term. I’m wondering what you see people doing wrong online.
MM: They play too many hands. The speed of the game is so fast that they think they have to play every hand. But the game doesn’t change. The mathematics of the game don’t change. If a guy is robbing you blind, who cares? When you have a hand, he will pay you off.
MK: Doesn’t sound like you have much respect for online players.
MM: Online poker players are the worst poker players in the history of mankind. I play against really bad players who just give their money away. Guys put in $13,000, $14,000 when they can’t beat anything. Only online do you see that. That can never happen in a live game. I crush the no-limit online.
Thats why his friends need to sneak into his hotel room to take away his keyboard and mouse (as stated earlier in the interview) because he is losing so much in the big games online? Some contradicition somewhere =)

HAhahahahah Mike is such a liar..
Just yesterday I saw him donating about 35k to Spirit rock on Fulltilt. And when he's steaming he plays any 2 cards till the river.
I just cant believe he's a long term winner online.
He actually ended up losing around 70k to prahlad (spirit rock) last night. He got called with nothing a couple times to lose 8-10k each time, yet he's the one complaining about people going all in with nothing. The dude is a retard.
I've also seen him in chat saying stuff like, "wow this game is so good with Spirit in it, I'd play this game for the rest of my life".

Matusow may not be the best poker player in the world, or the best money manager... in fact he's a pretty hardcore degenerate, but you know he's about 10 times more likeable and respectable than established pros like Howard 'I wet my bed, did drugs, and ran errands for a long time before I could beat 2/4 limit' Lederer, TJ 'I'm always staked' Cloutier, Daniel 'I came to Vegas for years with nothing but a sense of optimism and a bankroll, and left with nothing before I finally won a tournament a few years ago' Negreanu. In fact, they're all serious fucking losers, but none are as honest about it as Matusow.
Agreed.. and I think the most of the TV-Pros like lederer, hellmuth, gus hansen, etc are not as good or respectable as the big limit cash game pros. I'd take Brunson, Chip Reese and Jennifer harman anytime over Negreanu, Hellmuth, Annie duke, etc.
The later are much more enterntainers than good players.
But Mike Matusow is fun to watch, and I hope they post more arguing at 2+2. we all love arguing dont we

i feel sorry for people like this. He could be rich, but he is a gambling junkie. So sad.
Yes because I'm sure having a lot of zeros on a computer somewhere at his bank would be much more fulfilling than using the money he wins doing what he enjoys. Get real, one good thing mentioned on this thread though is the difference between well known tournament players and GOOD cash game players. Sit down a lot of these tv celebrities at a big money no-limit game and they'd get eaten alive. The guys who win five figures most nights don't need to enter tournaments in the hopes they beat out 5000 idiots to win a mill.
so, by your logic, a heroin addict is acting in his/her best interest when they steal or borrow money for a fix?
get real. gambling like that is an addiction. I am sure he goes through some serious emotional trauma when he loses, even if doesn't say so.
Have any of you seen Owning Mahowny? Matusow is like Mahowny. He only wants to win so he can continue to lose.
Yes playing cards with your own money is just like stealing money to take heroin, excellent analogy dexter.
The analogy is not stealing to using your own money, it is gambling addiction to heroin addiciotn. Think about it, you will get there.
