Changed Schedule
Well, I wasn't able to play in the last two WCOOP events because my schedule always changes over time until I am sleeping during the day and staying awake through the night. It is really horrible but it started when I worked night shifts at the Casino and ever since then my sleep patterns have been cyclical.
I am now waking up at 6AM but since the WCOOP starts 14 hours later today I doubt I will feel up to starting a huge long ass tourney. I really want to enter the 2500 tomorrow though so I will try and wake up at 8AM at the earliest. There won't be as many entries either so maybe it won't last 10 hours +.
My friend also bet me $500 today that I couldn't quit caffeine for 3 months which I accepted starting from today. I have drank 6+ cups of coffee a day for the last 15 years so I know it will be difficult and since I have never tried I'm not sure what to expect. He is screwed though because my willpower for these stupid kind of bets is pretty damn good. I just hope headaches and withdrawl symptoms aren't too bad. I will replace caffeine with fruit juice and water and see how it goes.
Some interesting quotes regarding caffeine :-
Most people are unaware of caffeine's addictive properties. Those who consume 300 mg. or more per day, suffer from withdrawal symptoms if they abruptly cut off their caffeine supply.
Caffeine is an addictive drug, affecting 90% of all Americans, which alters the brain's natural state, and stimulates it in a manner similar to the amphetamines cocaine and heroin.
Anxiety, nervousness, irritability, and impatience can all be aggravated by caffeine. Depression can result as a withdrawal symptom from an absence of caffeine in caffeine addicted individuals. People can be unaware of the effect of caffeine on their mood until family members of co-workers complain of their caffeine driven behavior. People with mood disturbances may find that nutritional and herbal support during caffeine weaning will help rebalance their brain chemistry and relieve the symptoms of depression.
If anyone has ever tried to quit Coca Cola/Coffee/Tea or caffeine altogether let me know what negative effects you experienced and any obvious beneficial effects you had as a result of quitting. I am now really curious what the end effects will be after a significant time span of withdrawl from caffeine. I'll report about my progess here =)

Can't say I ever drank 6 cups but I have been unable to shake my after lunch caffeine necessity. It really sucks not to have it =0. I should mention I quit smoking cigarettes and used to do cocaine, which I also quit. Good luck dude!
Maybe you should have considered giving up caffeine before someone offered you money to do it. This is typical of the poker player/gambler mentality. Look at guys like Brunson, the manity used to weigh 400lbs and only considered shedding some until someone said he couldn't and had some money to back it up. Or Lederer, who's supposed to be a vegetarian, but had a hamburger when someone offered him $5000 to eat it. The moral bankruptcy of poker players is evident.
I drink alot of coke, about 2 litres daily for the past few years.
Ive never tried to stop all-together, but i have stopped for a few weeks (when i dont buy any from the shops)
The thing i found, is that the first few days are quite hard, you feel a little more tired, and its missing from your routine.
After that ive always felt fine.
Coffee does have a unique taste though, maybe you could try de-caf :)
$500 is totally worth it ;)
Your health is worth it even more. I gave up coffeine about 1 year ago. At first I felt a bit tired for some time, but not for too long.
You're going to have a really bad headache for a couple days. Just take some Tylenol or something equivalent. After that you'll be fine!
The headaches are a real pain in the ass, but after a week or two, you will feel a whole lot better, less prone to headaches and a lot more alert. The nice thing about drinking caffeine is that it keeps you up... unfortunately that continued awakeness comes at the expense of your ability to think.
Oh, and kicking the habit makes the drug that much more powerful for when you really need it. After kicking my extensive (and expensive) Coca Cola intake after college, when I needed to stay up for long periods doing work at my new job 6 months later, 1 mountain dew kept me up most of the night... and I used to drink a coke or two right before bed.
I have not stop drinking cola, but I have reduced it, so now I drink 3-4l of water and only cola sometimes.
I'm feeling better and more clear in the head = I'm playing better in the late hours. :D
your head will feel like a fucking rock after a few days :(
I was almost taken to hospital due to my sleeping so soundly for almost 18hours (WHICH ISN'T NORMAL XD). The hideous headaches are already mentioned ;).
Some of you guys actually have blood in your caffeine circulation ? I've done up and down, I was off a couple of weeks - first you feel tired (a lot more tired for some time), then it goes pretty much back to normal - I didn't get any head abnormal headaches or anything because of that.
If you enjoy drinking colas, you should try the caffeine-free Sprite. It'll satisfy your cola needs and it won't violate the rules of the bet! ^^ And its better for you... yeah.
I know people who have done this. Most don't realize coffee is a laxative. You will be buying some good old exlax and eating dried prunes soon enough.
good luck
drink coke constantly - cannot be without it, play wc3 and diablo 2 - means i MUST have something to drink or else I get very cranky and must leave pc bcuz I become a little tired and micro is easier if i got some caffeine as an x-tra ''edge'' ^^ ... without coke for more than 2 days - I become something like gollum :) ...
