Computer problems!

Computer wouldn't boot up again after crashing during poker last night. This led to another complete reinstall. So after everything was completely installed again and updated with the latest drivers etc, we ghosted an image so we can recover quicker next time. However, soon after that I rebooted again and it said it couldn't find the boot file...! I kept rebooting and eventually I got it to work once and am currently working on my computer. I am no hardware expert but my friend is pretty knowledgeable but even he can't quite figure out what is going on. We are pretty sure it has something to do with the Sata and/or hardrive but we seem to have exhausted most avenues up until now.

Hopefully he can figure out the glitches soon =(

Hey tiller, does it say something like ntdv something something not found when it tries to boot?

If so, I've had this problem before. It is indeed a HD problem. You don't have to reinstall though. You can actually fiddle with the windows boot disk and copy the file required over to the hd while you get a new HD (that one _probably_ won't be lasting much longer)

I would recommend Western Digital or Hitachi. Hitachi 120mb are probably the most stable HDs out there.

Yeah, this is probably a hard drive problem since a new install shows bad files. Maxtor is not a reliable drive to have. Buy Western Digital (Raptor is the fastest drive) or Hitachi.
